Change vm settings to: Memory: 2GB (or keep it at 4GB if your host computer has 6GB or more) Number of processors: 1 Number of cores: 2 then go to vm > manage > change hardware compatibility. Follow wizard and change hardware compatibility to workstation 6.5-7x selecting the "alter this virtual machine" option. |

RE: ISTA/D 3.42.40_ISTA/P 2.52.3 VMware + Expert Mode
Hi,
Could someone help me out please with setting up chinese clone ICOM A2 with this vmware image. I have edited the xml files as per in this thread and added my ICOM's MAC and serial number as it was not included already in the moded files in post number 1. My ICOM appears in the list now but am not able to connect to it even after several reloads. Please see the pics. I am also not able to change the IP address in ICOM itself. Is my firware level ok? Anything I am missing? I also cannot find ny step by step instructions for chinese clone ICOM either? |

RE: ISTA/D 3.42.40_ISTA/P 2.52.3 VMware + Expert Mode
Thanks Beemerboy88 for prompt reply, I am shocked!!!! how can an ICOM A be inside ICOM case? ICOM A is acompletely different shape, please tell me how to differentiate, I just bought it last week from china and can still return it if its not ICOM A2.
Is latest firmware 3.10.42? Many Thanks |

Alot of chinese icom A2 clone internals are from the A. It's unlikely you can return it because seller will just say that it is definately is an A2. But if the icom works and price was cheap then i wouldn't worry about it too much. Latest firmware is 3.10.45. |

RE: ISTA/D 3.42.40_ISTA/P 2.52.3 VMware + Expert Mode
Thanks very much for your help.
I have now gone back and checked everything. On carefull inspection I had different Serial number and LAN MAC address on the casing but the internally (via browser) the MAC address and serial number are the ones which were alredy included in your mod files for A2 in post number 1. Upon starting ISTA/D I am not able to see my ICOM in the connection manager. The list is empty. The ICOM is present in the list when you go via main menu -> workshop manager but there is a cross mark on the cable plug. I have tried to reload several times but no luck. Seems my ICOM is not connecting to ISTA via ethernet cable. Do I need to change IP in ICOM or change any setting in VM network adaptor settings, it is set to custom (autobridging) at the moment. And lastly there is no snapshots in the vmware image I have downloaded from this thread? (Sorry for long post ) |

(02-07-2014, 16:50 PM)netgear2 Wrote: Thanks very much for your help. 1. In virtual network editor set vmnet0 to bridged and select your Ethernet adaptor from the list. 2. In the vm settings set network adaptor to Bridged:Connected directly to the physical network. If the icom xmls are correct then it should work. No snapshots are included because the vm is unlocked. You can create your own if needed. |
