RE: Misfire cylinder 5, about to pull open engine as last resort!
Its quite common for M54 DME that some of transistor packs which powers coils are burning out.
Result - the same - misfire on some cylinders. Also it's quite common for M54/M52 to have head gasket burned out between Cyl 4/5/6, mostly 5/6. Everything work okay, even compression test seems to give good results, but there is funny "clicking" noise barely noticeable on partial throttle. Issue is, on WOT, gasket is leaking between Cylinders giving misfire too. If that would be mine car, Coils + Plugs first, if no, DME transistor pack check, then head gasket work. |

The misfire is now stuck in cylinder 4 having moved over from cylinder 5. Total insanity. We are looking into opening UP DME to check out these "transistor packs" failing which we replace the DME. If that fails then painfully cylinder head out. (08-10-2017, 09:22 AM)uragan1987 Wrote:(06-10-2017, 09:08 AM)semihmutcali Wrote: I know the problem. That is ecu problem. I sent pm how can you repair Oh No! When this starts it can be hell. I have an N55 F10 that used to throw engine knocking faults all over and "valvetronic no adjustment possible". Updated the integration level and it stopped, luckily. Ill follow your path to resolution keenly too. Will update once we change DME on the N52 |

Software will not fix a 1 cylinder misfire.
If you're unsure of engine having a physical issue, compression test plus leak down test will tell you the story. |
