I'm trying to return my old genuine A2 unit back to service, because my another Icom (genuine Next under warranty) has connection problems.
Mentioned A2 Icom just blink all leds once after connection to OBD.
Is this common failure with known solution?

Flashing LEDs mean nothing. We can only say that the processor does not start, and there can be a lot of reasons.

Thank you for the response.
Just to be clear. All leds blinks once and that is all.
Could you name few reasons, why processor does not start?
How often you needed to rebail or reflow it?

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
The processor does not burn out, but often the balls come off due to poor soldering. It is not possible to give any advice, as diagnosing a malfunction is a difficult job. To start the processor, the RAM and flash with the program must be working. Other ICs like the 1562 may indirectly affect startup. First of all, the presence of power 1.6v 2.5v 3.2v is checked

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Hello, I have a few questions (ICOM CLONE A2)
What color should the COM LED flash when some process is being performed? It is currently flashing red, and it seems to me that it was flashing green before.
ferrum, could you add photos again, which elements should be replaced when there is only half of the RAM memory?
I have not yet dealt with the problem and one of the topics with a lot of information about it disappeared after the last failure of the forum. Thank you in advance

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Yesterday I made a second attempt to repair the memory bank of my A2. During the first repair I only replaced one resistor, but I do not know which (I think R195) is 38kΩ. I measured the R119 in the circuit and it indicated 1kΩ. The circuit resistance measurement was very wrong. Yesterday, after desoldering, it turned out to be 10kΩ. I changed it to 1kΩ and after connecting ICOM to the Web server I saw 256 MB. I would like to add that a few days earlier I tried to update the firmware to the latest one and the whole process was as it should and the firmware was still not updating, it was still old.
After yesterday's memory bank repair, the update was successful. By the way, I checked the ICOM serial number: 1120134.
I read what ferrum wrote that it is better to change it to another.
I located 24C02 and what I saw at the beginning scared me. Four of the eight pins are soldered together. It seems to be a mistake, but when I was looking for new 24C02 on the Internet, I came across such circuits in which also four pins are connected together.
Now I don't know how to be correct at all. The photos show how it is in my ICOM and a new other circuit with AT24C02 memory
Once again, thank you ferrum for your help on the topic

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
On the board, all 4 outputs go to one contact, this is not an error, it should be so.
Unsolder 24c02 and you will see why they are all soldered together.
24s02 has a TSSOP case and it’s not difficult to buy a panel

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Hi ferrum,

I have quite old A2 clone which worked fine for many years. Now it began having a problem with K-line. It's not that it does not work anymore. On some cars it doesn't from the start, on others it works at first, but after some time (like 15 minutes) it starts to drop data and gets worse until stops working completely.

No problems on D-CAN at all.

Any idea what could be wrong?

I've been reading your article all this time! Very helpful! I have successfully changed ICOM P to ICOM A2, and all the tests are going well, thank you!

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
There are a lot of malfunction options, the kline is the most difficult part of the circuit in which there are many elements, often repeated breakdowns are 393 and a malfunction of the 5v controller. In your case, I'm more inclined to think that the processor balls are torn off

As you write, it is not easy to buy 24C02 TSSOP. Theoretically, I should not need it, but I would rather have it in reserve if something goes wrong. I found one like in the attachment but I'm not sure if it will be good. I understand that I cannot read this eeprom in the circuit, I just need to desolder, then do the reading, change the serial number and write the eeprom to 24C02 again.

Is it possible to use an adapter for the 24C02 TSSOP, or is it better to solder the memory to the printed circuit board with pins for reading? Not difficult, but what if something went wrong? Is the content of the Eeprom assigned to a given ICOM or can it be replaced with another file?
The next question that thrills me is which ICOM_Restore.bin file should I use? The only one I have in my resources is the attached to the files ICOM-Image-03-15-04. Currently, ICOM is updated to ICOM-Image-03-22-11.
