I'm using daily the red VNCI without issues,including online connections!
No problem so far,worth every penny.

Doesn't matter, it's 99% the same. 
However if you are working with older pre-MQB cars like Golf 5/6, Octavia 1Z and similar, both red and gray is useless as it doesn't see most of the control units.

What I can say so far:
ODIS-S and -E are working, as long as it comes to reading fault codes and coding.

I tried to flash a CAN gateway with ODIS-E, and it immediately stopped in the beginning and destroyed the gateway.
Then I took a Bosch KTS in PassThru mode, flashed it again, and I could revive the gateway.

Attached, find the pictures of the board. Maybe you can see something faulty, or you can say sth about this problem.

did you use it with cable or with wifi?
