I had 7.82 version and t worked great. Now when I updated to 7.83 I can see the message:

That should not have happened, but you may get this message if you do not run DiagBox as Administrator or in Windows XP compatibility mode.

My son performed a complete DiagBox 7.01 installation that took an amazing 4 minutes.. The platform was Windows XP 32bit SP3, running on VirtualBox with 3GB RAM allocated memory and 20GB allocated Virtual Disk space on his DeskTop computer which is comprised of Intel G3258 CPU at 4.0 GHz with 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD on a Z97 GigaByte motherboard running Windows 10 64bit. The full installation and upgrade to 7.57 took 7 minutes!!!

He then performed another installation with an identical setup but using VMWare Player, which took 11 minutes to 7.01, 14 minutes to 7.02 and 20 minutes to reach 7.57...

Having performed many DiagBox installations on various platforms, some of which took hours and the fastest 7.01 installation took around 20 minutes on VirtualBox. These were the fastest DiagBox installations I have seen and thought to share this information..

Update:
DiagBox 7.01 installed successfully on the latest release of 32bit Windows 10 RS1 (14316.1000.160402-2217). The installation which was on Windows 10 RS1 over VMWare Workstation Pro took 2 hours and 10 minutes and the update to 7.02 took an extra 5 minutes!!!

The Virtual Hardware had 4GB allocated RAM, 36GB allocated Disk space. The Notebook has Intel I5 CPU at 2.5 GHz, 8GB RAM and 1TB SSHD. A far cry from the 4 minutes on Windows XP on VirtualBox with an SSD..

DiagBox v7 and v8 usually failed to install on all Windows 10 RS1 releases up to (14295.1000.60318-1628), but it ran fine on all 32bit Windows 10 RS1 releases, only if Windows is updated from previous releases where DiagBox is already installed.

Two steps to speed up Windows 10 installation:

1- Disable Microsoft Malware Protection;

* Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Defender --> Turn Off "Real-time protection"

Or:

* Run "gpedit.msc" Group Policy Editor,
* Navigate to Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Defender
* Double click on "Turn off Windows Defender" and Select "Enabled" --> Apply --> OK
* Close Group Policy Editor

When finished, enable Windows Defender by resetting it back to "Not Configured" and restart the computer..

2- Raise Priority to High;

* Start Task Manager and Right click on the Setup process, Click on "Go to details", right click on the executable and click on "Set priority", choose High (or any setting higher than Normal).

This should bring down the installation time from hours to minutes..
