RE: Which power supply for programming
Hi,

I will by the PeakTech 1530. This supply can adjust variable output voltage 1 - 16V DC and output current 0 - 60A. Seems good for programming.

Here is the back connectors : What kind of cable should I by please and where to by this ?

RE: Which power supply for programming
I would say 60A is on the edge being barely enough (at least for diesel E60). When I used a power supply capable of 50A@14V and ECUs were reset by ISTA-P (diesel pumps started, CD drives started, etc), voltage would drop and sometimes even this supply's protection would kick in. In any case ISTA-P would display a low voltage dialogue then until pumps would turn off and programming would continue. I decided to buy a decent supply after that so I would not have any problems. These cars cost much more than decent supply to risk.

Also have Fronius Acctiva Pro Flash 70A but i've seen 70A+ current drawn while programming on certain cars. But 99,9% it's sufficient for all tasks.

It's is capable of load sharing up to ~80A@(13-13.7V max which is good for F8x series) in parallel Config. It doesn't look fancy but it does the job and it was fun to mod it.

Is there an easy and safe way to increase the rated voltage from 12.15V to lets say 13.7V?

I did 3X DPS-600
  (3x47A = 141A - 12V)
13.5V = 127A
14.2V = 121A
parallel
modification of the OVP to 15V
control voltages
12.5V
13.5V
14.2V
the only difficulty is that you have to make adjustments voltage for each

4godziny tested at 65A
Here are my programming E91 with this power supply

The second did at 80A or two DPS-600
modification of OVP to 15V
voltage regulation
12.5V
13V
13.6
14.2V
14.8V

two power supplies already have dozens of hours of work, and how far it's OK

RE: Which power supply for programming
How many amps should I aim for? I have a modded Dell KD175 modded to 14.2volts, but the voltage drops under higher load. I'm thinking about building a different one with much better voltage regulation, but it's limited to 65amps. Is that enough for e90, e60, and f10 chassis?

RE: Which power supply for programming
IMHO I would aim at least for 80A. Unless you will be charging a battery to full state before any serious work. Transient consumption when electrical pumps/motors are starting is quite more than during a steady state.
