Hi all,

I run into a bit of trouble doing the instructions here.
I have a vcds cable with ATMEGA162 + FT232RQ + 9241 + 16V8B +ATA6561
I have done the following: use mprog 3.5 from here
Device/scan=> found 1 programmed device
File/open from templates the rq (should i have changed something there in edit mode?)
Pushed the program all existing devices button=> after 2 sec it says it programmed
After that:
i plugged the cable in the car and used the VAGCOM_EEWrite from v4 folder and wrote it to the cable.
After i open the VCDS software with VCDSloader and do a test it observes that the firmware is not up to date so i update it. See images.
After update the cable doesn't work anymore plugged in to the car, if i unplug it VCDS 17.8 sees it, see images.
Also after the upgrade the software gets unregistered i have done everything disconnected from the internet.

Any ideas what have i done wrong?

I managed to get the cable working (in hungarian ).
I took the 18.2 soft from here (up 2 posts) installed it, used with the bundled loader (6.2).
Re-flashed the cable with lang. Hun as the soft is Hungarian (does this matter?)
and after update from vcds to 1.96 it works. It thorws sometimes an error that "this function works only with registered version", or does not decode all faults, but if i restart the vcds soft it works again. Can live with it.
I will try to reflash the cable to english next week after i used the cable as it is (i don't have the guts to mess with it, before i diagnose the cars from the whole family )

according to your pictures before running vcds 17.8.1 you are to copy/paste VCDSLoader into C/Ross-Tech/vcds... folder.
make a shortcut from VCDSLoader to desktop and rename it to Vcds17.8.1
after that you are to run vcds from the new Vcds17.8.1 shortcut.
and make sure that your AV y/or Windows Defender are off
make exclusion on your AV y/or WD
it's better to use Loader V6.3 from here Post: #283

software is the latest eng version
i have used all above and loader 6.3 but software says serial invalid
did i something wrong ?

Hi guys..I have interface based on chipset that allows me reflash thru usb sucesfuly and using 1.post files softwere works only few times and than I need to rewrite eep and fw again..Is it blacklisted?which one is most stable and working now loader and soft?thanks advanced

Hi guys

I have VCDS 18.2 ATMEGA162+16V8+FT232RQ (clone) interface (1.96 firmware version) cracked with VCDS loader v6.
I am wondering if it is going to work fine if I download latest version of VCDS (18.9) and patch it with loader v6.3?

I have this China cable.
Wanted to update because Loader V7 Unfortunately, I had to find that there is no Atmega microprocessor installed but a special ARM chip.
Is it possible to update MCP2515 with the new loader?
With a USBASP ...
