SCN online is like VO coding on bmw. SCN codes default values according to current options, u cant retrofit anything with scn, u need to add SA code (like FA on bmw) via online and not many ppl can do it. Also its all possible offline, but there u manually code every needed ecu (like FDL on bmw). Its surely not the end.

They can't take such a bally step , the independent BMW workshops in this world are 100 times the number of BMW dealers , those workshops who makes a company like BMW and others making huge money from spare parts and repair with 0 headache .

limiting any ECU replacement procedure to the dealers only who have ISTA online connection with BMW data center , as if they are telling people not to buy BMW's cars anymore .

People loves BMW because the upgrades and retrofits are endless and BMW forums are the most active forums in the world just because the owners have a complete freedom .

but that's only my opinion offcourse .

This is old news. Have been in the running a long time. But. Solution is simple. People running legit business can buy AOS which also have validation capability. Of course the cost is a question.

Exactly, as the hour fee was rised some time ago.
But: I definitely understand BMW: when more and more auto driving type functions come in to the car, more dangerous it is for all kind of coders "engineerings" etc. The whole car have to be more and more constant system without any kind of manipulation.

And there would be still possibilities interrupt that process with the offline files, what probably also would be cracked as everything else...
