all,

I seem to come up against a language issue when I find a new model BMW to work with that is pre 2006.

This e39 M62 is having issues - INPA reads out in German...

I've update my Daten files with the Coding Tool and hope to see an English improvement the next time I am working on this e39.

Any advice?

you have misfire codes and fuel mixture codes. on both banks.
did you check 02 sensor values on idle, while driving? are there any air/vaakum leaks on the enginge.
also there is a camshaft error code stored as well

Why don't you use ISTA+ like everybody else?
INPA is kinda depreciated and messy anyway...

I am - works very well.

INPA offers digital and analogue values to monitor that may not be displayed in ista+. Just wanting to look at all options.

I managed to get INPA to switch to English from German for the e36 files by updating the Datens so I'll cross my fingers that the same works for the e39 with the M62 V8.

Data logging software would be gold but both BMWLogger and TestO have never been able to test the M62 e39 unfortunately.

I'll keep scanner forums looking for people who have switched INPA German to English for specific models.

You have to put English .prg files into your ediabas/ecu/ folder to see errors in english, and the inpa .IPO files have to be the english versions inside your inpa/sgdat/ folder.

The last english inpa intaller (that I know of) was leaked sometime around 2009-2010, so it should include your M62.
If you simply update your ediabas .prg and inpa .ipo from the new ISTA packs, you will have German 100%.



FWIW: INPA may be old, but it's highly configurable, and still used every day by BMW engineering. BMW runs it on 2019 models and future experimental cars (even a certain Toyota) just fine. It's built for speed and custom jobs, over pretty GUI.
