I have a customer with an F16 that has had a used 8sp transmission fitted, the car won't drive - guessing this is due to a VIN mismatch between EGS & DME?

do i just need to write the VIN to the EGS using WRITEDATABYIDENTIFIERVIN and update EGS or is there an easier way on ISTA+

EGS got Immobilizer. You need to use the old EGS Control Module or edit the new one with BMW Explorer for example.

Excuse my ignorance, is the EGS located inside the gearbox with the valve body?

yes EGS is inside gearbox, it's the part in plastic, if you don't replace old EGS in used gearbox not possible match ISN from CAS(BDC)--DME--EGS, if interested contact me in PM, I'm able with special tools to unlock from remote used EGS

Thanks for the offer - the customer is going to replace the EGS with the original one.

I will keep you in mind if I get a similar request.
