New BMW E60 recall info?
Can one of you rather helpful people with access to BMW check if they have updated the system with the details of the recall issued this week, it's all speculation at the moment. If a PDF is now live would you be able to post it up please?
Thanks. |

RE: New BMW E60 recall info?
Just checked my AOS and it shows recall for my 535d. It says "Checking the branch-off point and reworking if necessary" but I can't download PDF at the moment. Some server issues I think

RE: New BMW E60 recall info?
HI, just checked with my dealer and I was told this on my E61
The E6x model recalls are new, they were just released to us in the past week or so, its to do with something on the rear of the car, a branch off point. It's basically check for corrosion and any damage, then there are three different repair stages depending on the state of the car, we can't pre order parts as we have to inspect the car first... Please bare in mind this was simply word of mouth at the dealer, from someone who I am friendly with and not from a service agent. Until I book my E61 in, I wont know exactly what the recall is, but it sheds a little more light on for those of us with E6x vehicles. I have a E70 also and have recalls coming thick and fast between the two of them ha ha ha... Heres a little more light on the subject. I hope this helps. The battery cable connection is checked from the underside. (The previous recall was just a cosmetic trunk side cable cover renewal.) Depending on the corrosion damage on the connection it's only cleaned and greased or if the connection is badly corroded the whole cable from that connection to engine bay is renewed. In worst case this corrosion damage has caused fire in the trunk when the connection heats up due to higher resistance and partial short to chassis. |

The number of TC is 0061070500, repair instructions available in ISTA 4.18, you should find it via text search function.
