There is a seller selling these for $600.

Claim to be a g12 screen in an F10/F01 frame.

Any thoughts on how it was done? The control board is easy. The actual display I'm trying to figure out. The non-active sides can be cut I suppose with a glass cutter, but I wonder if they delaminated the glass and replaced it with something else. I don't see any obvious cut on the enclosure....

I’d say its very possible they replaced the glass, as that would be the only way since the G12 screen also has a border top and bottom as well and I doubt they’d be able to cut it that precisely.

Perhaps. But that digitizer has an insane amount of pins - More than the display FPC -  and I haven't seen one on the market with that interface.

What do you use to cut the screen glass to make it fit?

I don’t cut the screen glass, I disassemble the back of the donor screen, then i cut all groves from the back of the f10 frame, to make its back-end surface smooth as possible, then use double face tape to stick the g screen from the front, make sure you see the actual CID rectangular frame.
Then use some wax or black glue ( idk its name in english) outside the inner frame.
Then fit it to car, if its G01, it will fit directly, if G30 you will need to remove a small part from both left and right guidance part in dashboard.
For the screws, most of the time you don’t need them, because dashboard trim lock the screen in place, but if you want do it to perfection, you put a connection from screen to dashboard screws. It should be easy if you have the correct tools.

Hi, could you post the pictures from the back of your modified screen, please? I'm in the middle of this very retrofit and pictures would be a massive help. Did you need to remove the original mounting points from the bottom of the screen?

Yes you need to remove the original metal mounting, and also dismantle the board metal box then stick it to the back of the screen.
