I have done 8 eNBT setups and redone 2 setups throughout the years. I have never once had a carystsems/custom retrofit garage adapter fail on me. The two redone setups originally had bimmerretrofit adapters that failed and I replaced the adapter and harness with one from car systems.

That said for being such a relatively expensive product the car systems documentation about the adapter and the retrofit itself needs improvement. For example it took me over a year to figure out the volume spike issue was caused by not grounding the faceplate to one of the two bolts that hold the dash in. I think it was the third or forth time I reached out to them about the issue when the support was "oh year you need to ground the faceplate" when there was no mention of that in the manual.

I also hate how I have to call "my guy" to purchase anything from them instead of going right to their website to purchase stuff.

Thank you for your valuable comment. As for the faceplate grounding may I ask from where did you create the grounding and then directed to where?

Also, how did you solve the illogical behaviour of volume output auto-adjustment function with increasing vehicle speed? Obviously it must be the coding parameters of the HU.

I had a BimmerRetrofit eNBT adaptor and th evolume used to spike on that but it was a firmware issue.

Have you fitted one into an E70 & if so, what is the climate control interface like - my car has heated and ventilated seats.

Could you please provide some more details. This issue is plaguing me nearly every day and it would be great if I could finally fix it. Pictures or the exact points to connect would be great.

Get a new trim piece from the lci models and you are 90% there. A bit of work with the dremel and sandpaper and the new controller fits right in. You do need to create some custom fixture since not all holes line up. 
Here is mine. It's not perfect as you can see in the bottom left corner but you don't notice it enough to spend another $150 on a piece of trim.

I fitted F15 screen but you need to make fixings to fit the screen. (Didn't have time to model them for 3D printing).
The quality is better than the CIC screen.

For the life of me i can't find the aluminium cube trim for the LCI, i haven't seen them anywere, i don't know if they are even a thing for the LCI?
