Flashing a stock box map to an E60 with XHP?
Owner of the car says the XHP map was flashed 2 owners ago, said former owners a twat and enabled gear display on a 2005 car, this means whenever you go into sport mode you get a transmission fault.
I'm going to try and update the KOMBI as this is the cause of the fault. Assuming this doesn't fix it as it's a 2005 car so hit and miss; how can I force a stock map with NCS back onto the box. I have tried quickly on 2 other cars in the past and NCS throws an error when the flash starts using comfort mode, that's as far as I got. XHP support are the biggest bunch of wankers around, the reply the guy got was to use ESYS, yes it's an E60 so fek all use that is. In the past when I asked they said to use NCS, but of course it rejected it... I'd appreciate any advice on how to get rid of XHP for the guy. Thanks. |

Use WinKFP with Expert Mode to force flash because with Comfort Mode it won't let you to do that with xHP installed.

RE: Flashing a stock box map to an E60 with XHP?
The problem with this car is in the KOMBI, it simply does not support the S1, S2, S3 signal, etc. no flash will help for it. To solve the problem, the KOMBI must be replaced with a new version. Any KOMBI after 2006 works fine.
If you really want to flash the gearbox with stock software, use WinKFP in comfort mode, letting the car sleep (60 minutes) before trying. This is necessary because for some reason, after it has worked, it cannot put the EGS into programming mode. I wouldn't remove xHP from this gearbox, without it it is fatally tragically slow and inadequate. |

Guess I'll tell him to buy the licence instead as it will cost less than travel and having a kombi replaced then vin matched. One thing I've never found any decent info on how to find the correct 2 files to add to expert mode, if you know of any guides to point me this way for future reference, it'd be appreciated |

I've personally put xHP on 05/2005 E60 and the KOMBI supports gear display just fine with no ill effects at least with the latest I-Level. Click Thanks and Reputationif this post helped you.

I flashed over 20 E60 prefaces, none of the 3.0d or 2.5d before 2006 show the gears correctly on the dashboard display in sports mode. I have written to support and their response was: "the board does not support this signal, replace the board with a new one"... So that's my experience on the subject. Of course, it is always possible to have a private case like yours. |

(19-03-2024, 18:26 PM)Stratofortress Wrote:This is described in their FAQ section:(19-03-2024, 17:47 PM)vld Wrote: You just got lucky. "Most 3, 5 and 6 Series cars (E9x & E6x series, pre-facelift) were fitted with outdated dashboard firmware that cannot display the current gear used in S-Mode. Most of these cars display a red "Gearbox Error" sign on the dashboard when S-Mode is engaged. Therefore, the gear display is not active by default in the xHP maps for these cars. You can try to enable it yourself using the Gear Display in the xHP Flash Settings. If this does not work, you will need to update the firmware." |
