XZBMW  HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Hi All,

Does anyone know the difference between seat modules for comfort/memory seats in F series?
I noted that there are HWEL versions starting with AB1, AB2, AB4, AB5, AB6, AB7. There is no relation between year and the number (higher AB number does not mean newer module).
I'm going to retrofit seats from 07/2013 (F10 US) into 11/2013 (F10 EU). I have module AB2, but TAL calculation expects AB5. However, all the functions seams to work on the bench.

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Would be MUCH easier to speak about SPECIFIC F serie, but as EXAMPLE on F10 AB2 is for cars withOUT 453 and 456, while AB5 is WITH 453 but NOT 456. Others will be for OTHER different options.

Given 453 is active seat ventilation and your module is AB2 I don't see HOW can ventilation WORK on the bench...

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
@Node, thanks for your reply!

My case donor is F10 LCI 07/2013 US, It has two AB2 modules, 488 (lumbar support), 494 (heating), 430 (external mirror package)
Target is F11 LCI 11/2013 ECE, at this moment has no AB* module, only small module for heating controlled via LIN. Seats are sport semi-electrical.
My target is to have two AB2 modules (since I already have them), with 459 (memory), 481 (sport seats) 488 (lumbar support), 494 (heating).
No ventilation is involved. Neither comfort seats.
I'm aware that I will have to do some custom coding to get 459 (memory) for both seats, as in ECE memory was only for one (driver) seat.

TAL calculation for construction I-level F010-13-07-506 or F010-13-11-504 gives target HWEL_00000AB5_001_002_000. I just wonder if this is any kind of a problem that I will use AB2, not AB5?
BTLD and SWFL are the same in both cases.

On a bench with connected: the passenger seat, IHKA, FRM, memory panel and proper coding I managed to get working: movement, memory and heating.

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Now at least we got to know factory levels... My original answer was for 2010 F10 and some random type code. 2013 CHANGES things. Knowing specific type code COULD change things AGAIN.

AB5 will be calculated for SOME type codes with 453 or 488 and NO 456. AB2 would be calculated for OTHER type codes with 494 but without 453 and 456 (some type codes without 488 too).

Given firmwares are the same, you can use HWID from actual. Or fix the VO so AB2 is calculated. But for the later you need to stop hiding things and provide exact type code you are calculating for.

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Node, thanks again for your answer!

Donor car type is 5A73
Target car type is 5J51

Let me know if any other information would be useful.
Playing with different types and codes, I couldn't get the AB2 from TAL calculation, even if I was doing that for the donor's car FA. However, I don't have access to its original FA nor I-level. I have a VIN of a donor if that helps (if needed, I prefer to send it via PM).

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
I don't care about donor data. I could look it's options via VIN, but that is not related to your issue at all.

To calculate AB2 for 5J51 you can use one of F010-13-07-500, F010-13-07-501, F010-13-07-503, F010-13-07-504, F010-13-07-505, F010-13-07-506, F010-13-11-500, F010-13-11-501, F010-13-11-502, F010-13-11-503, F010-13-11-504 factory levels with 459 and 494 but without 453 and 456.

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
I followed you instruction, but I'm still getting AB5...

I removed all VO from FA except 459 and 494. I'm still getting AB5 in TAL calculations.
I don't expect any problems due to that, but do you know what is the difference in HW between AB2 and AB5? Is there any source for that information?

I attach minimal FA and SVT.

BTW: can you reveal how did you get this information?
"To calculate AB2 for 5J51 you can use one of F010-13-07-500, F010-13-07-501, F010-13-07-503, F010-13-07-504, F010-13-07-505, F010-13-07-506, F010-13-11-500, F010-13-11-501, F010-13-11-502, F010-13-11-503, F010-13-11-504 factory levels with 459 and 494 but without 453 and 456. "
From KIS files? How?

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Using your "minimum" FA and 13-11-500 factory step ESysUltra calculates AB2 in construction preview for me. Of course IF you give it AB5 in SVT soll, ESys will NOT change it in THIS SPECIFIC CASE, because AB5 is NOT prohibited by this FA.

I never kept "HOW" secret:

RE: HWEL differences of seat modules (F series)
Esys (not EsysUltra) was adding AB5 all the time, but when I have in SVT AB2, it does not want to change it to AB5.
Node, thanks a lot for your support, patience and guiding! I really appreciate!
And thanks for the linkssmile
