Could be internal fault, that can not be excluded. But ALSO as far as I understand your fault is the light on the trunk lid it COULD be that the wire going to the lid broke itself (or only it's isolation rubbed through) and has a short on it while opening/closing the trunk ONLY.

I have no idea why you tried to isolate pin 14. Much better would be to isolate the pin SPECIFIC to the short. IMHO that is pin 4 in A174*13B. AFTER that you can try jobs proposed by Angel here. You may want to recheck pin number in ISTA AFTER you identify the car. It could be different from general diagram.
