Hi guys,

Recently I've bought ICON Next A+C
I have an E36 318is Coupe, manufactured 09/1994.

I wanted to use ISTA for diagnose on that car, too (even though I have DIS, and I know that it's probably better suited)

On connection, since there isn't VIN auto detect, it asks me for the VIN, after entering the full VIN, it starts the usual "initial detection", and at some point (while never finishing the initial detection) ISTA displayed an error, saying that the communication has been interrupted. Attaching the operation report.
I've tried couple of times with the same result.

Of course at the time of diagnose the car is connected to a charger and the switch is on (with no engine running)

Please help me understand the issue,

You need to write which ICOM you bought. The original or a Chinese copy, and which one because there are several of them.

Both ICOM Next A and ICOM Next C are the original BMW products.

Common guy, you need to give us something more. We do not have crystal balls here (or do we??? ) Does that car start? Any perceivable symptoms? Does your ICOM work on other similar cars?

I'm assuming that everything not mentioned is ok.
The car runs ok and no known problems, INPA diagnose is fine.
ICOM Next A is performing perfectly on F25

My personal experience: ISTA is good for upper e46.
For old car the best is DIS or old MoDiC.

Can you explain how the INPA should be configred to use ICOM Next?

Ediabas should be set to REMOTE interface & ICOM's IP. ICOM needs to be locked using it's web interface or iToolRadar or similar application.

Based on release notes for 4.35 it says that old E36s now work again. So there may have been a problem in your version!
