Correct way to write SVT to VCM on G series?
I recently did a full software update with almost every module being updated. Like most people, I had update VCM and MSM after Tal execution un-checked.
On my F25, I was able to read the SVT from the VCM, edit the file and write the new SVT to the VCM. NOTE: An SVT Read (ECU) does not contain all the details, protocols etc listed in the SVT read from the VCM so I don't think it's a good idea to do a "Read (ECU)" (not from the VCM), save that XML file then write that XML to the VCM because although it lists all modules, there are other details missing compared to the XML read from the VCM. On my G20, it does not appear to be possible to read SVT actual from the master VCM using the "Read SVT" button. I get the following error: com.bmw.ё5у5.commons.exception.PsdzException: Execution of command "requestSvt" failed. [C005] ECUId:VCM_0x10 job failed with job failed with negative response error: code: 5ёяvїcё returned global negative response description: 5ёяvїcё RC_RLE_VCM returned a negative response with response code requestOutOfRange; LinkName: VCM_ETHERNET severity: ERROR I have seen on other forums that this is normal for some newer cars. My question is, if I can't read the SVT from the VCM, what is the best and/or most correct way to update the SVT in the VCM? I understand that it may not functionally matter but I want to update it for correctness. |

No need to do that..You are trying to fїж something that doesnt need to be fїжed..Use read ecu button....
If want to write SVT use VCM tab at left, not button.,. Remote BMW support all series

The read SVT from VCM functionality is not working so I am looking for the correct way to write the new SVT to the VCM. I know for a fact that the XML file created by the "Read (ECU)" function is missing a lot of details (details other than just the modules and software versions) that an XML file read from the VCM contains. I do not want to write a file generated by "Read (ECU)", that is missing these extra details, to the VCM. |

Its not gonna work with G series....You are creating an issue that doesn't exist.
If you need to write a different SVT to VCM, just use the VCM tab at left Remote BMW support all series

You're not saying where to get the SVT file from because the Read option in the VCM tab does not work. I know where to write the file. Never mind. I'll wait until I replace my faulty FLM2 and will tick update VCM after TAL execution. That'll do it properly. Like I said, there are lots of differences in the details between an SVT that's read from the VCM and an SVT that's taken by the "Read (ECU)" button with the "Read (ECU)" version missing things that are in the version read from the VCM. |

RE: Correct way to write SVT to VCM on G series?
There is NO way to read SVT from VCM on G/I/J/whatever newer series. IMHO because it's no longer kept in xml format internally. You can write new one ONLY! You were told that already 2 times, but for some strange reason do not accept the truth, so why bother?

Just the "Read (ECU)" button on the TAL Processing page? Maybe because it calls it an "SVT Target", should I use the SVT target file from the last successful update? Regarding the writable SVT in the VCM, why does it call it SVT target? Wouldn't SVT actual and target in the VCM always be the same? (after everything is updated, actual and target should be the same yes?) Thanks in advance. |

RE: Correct way to write SVT to VCM on G series?
It feels like you are NOT using your brain app.
There is NO "best" place. Depends on what you are doing. The ONLY place to get it in ё5у5 from a car is reading from ECUs. With all the caveats due to the fact you are reading READABLE units ONLY. IF you already have some bus ports closed causing units to be not readable or IF doing some complex retrofit from different chassis then "best" WILL be calculated or even manually created one. How can I know why it's called target? I'm not an ё5у5 developer, but being developer in other areas I guess they were laze and just reused existing button label Or maybe just because it's the target state which you want to achieve...

RE: Correct way to write SVT to VCM on G series?
Go to TAL calculation and run it. After finish you will save svt target with all of your missing ecu. Write this svt to VCM

Or maybe just because it's the target state which you want to achieve...
