RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
This is very sad! Your icom has serious manufacturer bugs and will not work completely without fixing them. Connecting the button is also not so easy.

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
I have measured the switch does not switch at all. isn't it possible to just connect pin 42 of the Mega16 to ground? how else am I supposed to get the icom to run again? it doesn't help to write the 24c02 back to the original either?

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Hi all,

i have also a faulty icom a2. The LEDs light up red just once.
The Atmega seems soldered good and the voltages are also good.

Is there a schematic for the mainboard?

Thanks

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Hi all,

Hoping someone will be able to help with a new ICOM A2 clone that I have purchased.

I have tried to connect to car but the system LED flashes green and does not become solid. From what I have looked up this means that it has booted but is not ready for connection. I have left the car connected to power supply and connected to ICOM A2 only for 30 minutes and system never becomes ready.

Tried to connect LAN to see and get no sign of connection in iToolRadar nor can I browse in Internet Explorer to 169 address that is listed in ipconfig. No other network connection is enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be? I have had a quick inspection of the board and I do not see anything burnt - visually at least!

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply so quickly!

I tried restoring through USB as I can't access via the IP on the web through port 60080 and this is the log output I got from the USB.

This sounds like it has failed as there is no space on the A2 to update the firmware? It appeared to perform the update and the lights flashed as I've read they should. It finished with the system LED flashing green after 2 minutes.

I have a feeling that this clone is broken...

Hi everyone.

I have icom a2 clone for about 6years.
Caouple days ago i couldn't conect with the car and system light was red.Icom System test : wlan error /i don't have wifi/, and fan error.

I have made reset and new soft. Now when i plug icom in to the car ,system light is flashing green..then change to red.
But
Despite system light is red, i can conect with the car, and delate faults. When i finish diagnose, system ligt turning off ..but i can conect again.

I'm affraid  it will die processing the car ..

Is there any advice for this ?

Fan error i fixed changing serial number in eeprom, then make icom restore with usb stick.

I put old Intel wifi card(from very old thinkpad) in slot, and wifi test is ok.
It's not compatible, and not working, but test is ok.

RE: BMW Icom A2 repair
Hello
I have an Icom A2 clone and I'm having difficulties in updating the firmware, current version is 3.15.09, and I'm thinking its impossible to update to latest version so I'll leave as it is.

My concern is when I select the Vehicle Interface Tab - ICOM / ENET local area network I cant connect to car because it is saying "Firmware" in Connection Manager Tab. But when I change in Vehicle Interface Tab to ICOM / ENET Direct Connection, I can connect normally to car.
So now I want to know is something that I should take care of when I connect to Direct Connection?

Thank you in advance!
