Hi everyone,

My father's car has an issue.
When the HU starts, remains in logo 'Welcome to Volkswagen' and resets itself after 2 minutes and again in the loop until is finally starting up.
Where the issue is and what can I do? firmware update? How? What do I need to do/download and the procedure of updating the firmware. hopefully I don't need VCDS or something for a firmware update.

Hi, yes you must try flash firmware (download version for HW C14), burn iso on CD, reset radio ( combination button on photo ) next put CD with firmware...
When you have any problem with flashing write here, sometims this unit have problem with PCB or SSD Disk, I try help you.

I guess I just need to open the car, and straight inserting the cd with the burnt image on it and the HU should start by itself.

I will try to find someone with an external usb-c cd-rw for the macbook. 
I guess no chance with a memory stick

Do I need to re-download the maps as well?

All sorted now. 
Tried with a CD and got SWL Error. Got a DVD and process resumed.
