Working on a 2017 G30 530i.
The owner ran flexray initialization with ISTA and from there, it all went bad. All modules on flexray (DME, DSC, EPS, ACSM) show red in ISTA. The engine starts but no steering assist.
I tried to run steuern_flexray_pfad on all 4 ports but they all stay closed even though tool32 says the job is a success. Also, when I press read ECU in ESYS, it only reads 18 (doesn't read any on flexray). I'm not sure if that's expected, however, when I calculate the SVT_soll, it has 25 ecus. I ran steuern_reset_learn_flexray and still nothing.
I read some cases where writing SVT_soll to VCM would fix it so I tried it but still no luck. Any pointers?

Only tool32 will be helpful there. First open all ports, then each flexray use the learning procedure, at the end, don't forget to reset the bdc.

I mentioned in my original post that I already attempted to open all ports with tool32 via two different commands and neither appear to have worked. What command do I run in tool32 to reset BDC?

Did you disconnected the battery for at leat 30 min? Before open ports with tool32?

Yes, the owner said he had disconnected the battery for a few hours beforehand.
