E series = BN2000
F series = BN2020

as device exists for both series there is no reason to research such thing.

Goal would be a device that can be All-In-One:

1) CAN GATEWAY/WAKE-UP DEVICE for PC or Standalone:
- connected to computer with windows GUI to send receive or monitor CAN messages.
- standalone mode: to send CAN wakeup messages for bench testing devices.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
we can make it work on any baud rate, standard or protocol so it can be used for all devices, with it you would not need a CAS or ZGW to wakeup devices (for devices like ones that need MOST interface to wakeup, we would supply .prg files to switch wakeup mode to CAN), or in worst case scenario you can add ZGW to your bench and remove CAS etc.

2) standalone eNBT adapter - adapter which will translate 100k CAN into 500k CAN and add what is missing for NBT wakeup so it can be used in E series (like 0x12F etc.) (also so we are not behind others, we would have a complete programming GUI for NBT on Windows)

3) CAN filter/emulator of any kind in any car: pass thru can communication from interface 1 to interface 2 with modifications of messages or inserting message for connectivity, retrofits, message blocking, etc. This way you can retrofit anything in anything, filter and change VIN, ISN, MILAGE or whatever on the fly which will enable you normal function of devices that cannot be adopted to the car for some reason.

these are current ideas and the goal is to make it OpenSource project software-wise, hardware would be also based on opensource as we would publish all schematics with the firmware sources and tehnical documentation. Based on Arduino or STM32 MCU it cost should be =>20$

Sounds like a great Project yesyesbiggrinbiggrin
Please keep us up to date.

RE: BMW CIC - Convert: F series to E series CIC
I dont know if that helps but in other forum pοrpose to retrofit NBT unit instead of cic.
Also NBT is CIC+combox. Check at this site:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthr...p?t=799458.
i quess, that if it possible to retrofit NBT unit to BMW e then it is possible to retrofit CIC
Also , i retrofit champ2 unit, which is similiar to CIC to my mini r56 2008. For coding i use ncs expert . For FSC codes i dont know how . The connectors in champ2 unit it is easy to find it. Check here for all BMW and MINI the elecitrical connection

RE: BMW CIC - Convert: F series to E series CIC
I have always been dreaming about this, more for rear o2 sensor dtc disable on f10, but can adapter is also interesting.

i actually have
2x arduino unos
1x MCP2551 CAN HI-SPD Transceiver Breakout Board
1x elm327 obd2 bluetooth
1x elm327 obd2 wifi
3x STN1110 chips
1x obd2 uart adapter
1 x arduino wifi adapter
1x arduino bluetooth adapter

also a bench for e series cic
also 2 E series cic free on my desk
and 1 F series cic build in y car.

in shelf.

i always wanted to sniff data from can bus and send data, but after looking in more to it, i did realize it needs more c++ knowledge witch i dont have.
But if some of you can write up the wiring and coding data.
i can help and experiment voluntary.

Raspberry Pi + pican board is also nice for canbus too. 5minutes and you can powerup headunit on the bench. Now my can bridge is useless smile
