It's faster than any other adapter in the world. wink
So there is difference in speed....biggrin

RE: F31 enet connection issue.
Hi, again. I done battery reset. Now was able to connect and read car with enet and ISTA 4.31.40, but read speed is very low. With older version Ista 3.47 was possible to see vin and ip and after setup connection ista say check connection and ignition on. With D can cable connection is faultless with both versions ISTA. Maybe need another enet for f3x?

RE: F31 enet connection issue.
This is BMW ENET cable and only different with the after market cable is high quality material used, just a resistor and gold spring loaded pins. See the pictures.
The different processing is your PC hardware not the cable.

Well, naturally the cable itself (Ethernet) makes something, if it is VERY bad quality. then, I assume, ethernet packets have to send multiple times because checksum erros. But this is only when cable quality is very bad.

RE: F31 enet connection issue.
I have seen this problem before. Had a car that would take 30min to scan and sometimes all modules would be offline. Never got to resolve it but I suspected an issue with gateway. It would also take very very long if car had many errors. Same cable and computer on another car was fine. So the issue is specific to certain cars. Maybe try update the car and see.

If you find a solution I will be interested.

For now solution is to use DCan cable 3x faster reading than enet connection. I'm considering an update, because the i-step is from 2013.  I have recall appointment for steering rack bolts, maybe will ask for software update.

RE: F31 enet connection issue.
Try to set ediabas to zgw ip, then config ista to work with ediabas conf. I have faced same behavior with enet, but doing the above make it work

Theoretically it is possible. If the cable is so bad that many Ethernet packets have CRC errors, they needs to be re transmitted and that will cost time.

If you have a very cheap and long cable, and a crappy switch, then the Ethernet adapter might make a difference in the number of CRC errors and hence the perceived "speed". But in that case you should just buy decent Ethernet cables instead of fancy adapters. Ethernet error counters should always stay 0 on your laptop / switch.
